Last Name Change..."Thorn" What Do You Think?

My dads side has disowned me for being gay and having mental health problems im working on. They only met me once and instantly decided i was a "waste of flesh." I am done carrying the last name of a family that doesnt even include me in their family tree.

What do you think of "Thorn" as a last name? Do you think this is appropriate after 24 years of neglect and instant hatred and shame?
What would you do?

@A myHIVteam Member, I think you are brave to face facts and you should give yourself a name that inspires you or brings you internal peace to hear. Maybe a name of spiritual meaning, If you are spiritual. If not, never mind that idea. Give yourself a name that encourages you to be the best version of yourself.

I agree you should change it since there is negativity attached to it. But I'm a firm believer of positive thinking and if it were me, I'd go with something like Nothorn to signify you are no thorn in anyone's side. Or a last name like Starr because you are a Star 🌟. Whatever name you choose, I wish you the best.

I didnt realize you were from florida or did we already distinguish that? I am from Fl too! If you go through the nearest court house closest to you. I believe you can change the name you wish to change it too! You shouldnt have to put up with family like that. I dont tolerate family like that and honestly the best family isnt blood related. You have so much support here and you have me. So if you ever want to just talk hmu and i would love to talk to you! Dont let other bring you down.
