I didn't see it, but I know that Dr. Faucci has been instrumental in advancing medical knowledge on HIV for years. It's too bad that he has been placed in a position where so much of his time was capitalized by Donald Trump's foolish antics in the early months of the COVID pandemic.
It was discovered just 4 years before I was diagnosed when I was 25. I am now 61 and can confidently proclaim my victory over this disease with the meds and my lifestyle changes. If I can do it so can many others who have the right attitude of wanting to win the battle and fighting it everyday of your life like I have. I am a winner over this condition, say no more.
We are grateful to such pple. They are the reason we smile though still facing stigma we look healthy.
I remember reading about the mysterious disease affecting young gay men when I had first joined the Navy in 1978. I was laying in my bunk in bootcamp that first week, and seeing it on the front page of the San Diego paper. I did not know who I was at the time, or who I was growing into. I didn’t judge…I just knew my life was going to be hard with so many questions and road blocks from my experiences prior to joining and trust me…..it wasn’t a "Don’t Ask,Don’t Tell" Military during my years of service. We have come along way since then, but I still beat myself up everyday for becoming HIV Poz in 2006. I should have known better. It is so much stress and effort to remain healthy. Fortunately I have health insurance through the VA and I keep moving along through it all via networking. The strength within networking makes life worth living. God is Good.
