Getting the middle age flab summer ready
@A myHIVteam Member At least you can say, with no reservation, that you, "got a pear". Happy Birthday!! 🎁🎂🎈
I was recently diagnosed. Age 59. As I continue to take my meds and age and hopefully become undeteable does this mean the virus is still compromising my immune system while being dormant.
I just discussed this with my HIV doc the other day. The virus is always going to attempt to compromise, but to a massively lesser extent. In particular you starting at your age (and for certain me… read more

Question about always being hot.
Me too crazy right
I want to know, are people really disclosing each and every time they have sex. I was talking to my ex last week and he gave me the impression at least people in his circle of friend do not disclose their HIV status when having encounters or relationships. The discussion started because I had mentioned that I was interested in sleeping with someone that I have a casual thing with but we haven't had the talk and I was thinking about not pursuing it any further. He seriously made me feel dumb… read more
Live life like normal
As we age, HIV takes a toll on every organ of our body. Studies have not been made but clinical trials of various patients with HIV have shown that the virus does affect the brain. How do you deal with realizing that you're forgetting or someone you love is forgetting.?
@A myHIVteam Member I am experiencing the same thing. Just turned 60 the end of August. Memory just not what it was... I find myself grasping for words that I can't get ahold of. It's more in the… read more
My eyes are getting fuzzy and I don't hear a lot of things without my hearing aids.
@A myHIVteam Member, I've had tinnitus ever since I can remember as a kid. It's been constant ringing 24/7/365 for 52 years. It's normal to me since I've lived with it for all my life. I think I was… read more
In the past year or so I have noticed I'm getting very forgetful. And easily distracted. I know HIV can cause memory loss. And of course the meds, and age. Only one of those could make one forgetful. Memories of the past are sharp way back, but foggier approaching the present. I took a memory test once about 10 years ago and didn't do so hot. I'm feeling I need to take a memory test again because this is really affecting my life and confidence.
Anyone else feeling more forgetful these… read more

A dear friend started taking HIV meds in 1998 but died in 2022, aged 70. In those 24 years he never missed a dose and he received the best possible medical care at all times. He ate healthily, took plenty of exercise, and was always positive-thinking and cheerful.
But from the start of 2021 he began to suffer from
- chronic all-over itching
- severe weakness and fatigue
- inflammations around his eye sockets
- unexplained constant swelling of his penis (when flaccid)
- chronic kidney… read more

Ricky is the lookout for a South Bronx Crackhouse. He looks up and down the street, past decaying buildings, looking for customers and the police. Ricky’s 25 and looks 45. He’s an HIV+ crack addict. A black woman, who looks like a homeless, bag lady approaches Ricky. “They open,” she mutters. “Yeah. They slammin’ too!” Rick says. The skinny black woman hurries into the building. ”Bitch can suck a dick!” Rick says to me. “I hit that last week!” A big, black limousine with tinted windows pulls… read more
