Hi Everyone...
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Hope everyone had a good day.

What is your biggest struggle being HIV positive?

For me, I guess it would be always having a sore throat. It has never gone away and its already been a year

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been concerned about my sore throat for over a year now. I”m a long term survivor -23 years and have been on a number of different meds ever since. I’ve never smoked but have had hairy tongue several times (not recently). I have felt like something is going on in my throat, soreness, unexplainable change of vocalizing which often changes, food often getting stuck in my throat (often a friend bangs on my back to try and loosen up) and is always burning. I sip all day on ice cold liquids as that seems to be the only thing that helps temporarily. I did try to smoke a joint after it was recommended by a doctor about seven months ago but the smoke burned my throat so much (almost felt blistered” I could not smoke even one (I also do not like the smell).
If anyone has any information or opinions please let me know. Would appreciate it very much.

Not sure if you have this in where you live, but i was provided an HIV E&I (Early Intervention) case worker. He was so helpful because i didn't know anything about HIV, except there was no cure and I didnt think I had much time! (Uneducated) He would take me to appointments and showed me all the resources available, including support groups. Maybe ask you doctor.
