What Would You Do If You Infected Your Partner?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

In a normal relationship, you would tell your partner you’re poz. But do couples ever talk about the horrible situation of it actually happening?! My partner knows I’m poz and we take ever my precaution, but like I said...we’ve never really had the “what if” talk. Do you think the relationship would really survive that?

pretty much now if you're undetectable, chances of passing it on are slim. this doesn't mean you are 100% in the clear. i'd still have the discussion for peace of mind.

My boyfriend is neg and I’m newly diagnosed so I’ve only had a short time to think about it but I would be devastated myself. I think our relationship would survive but I really don’t want to know. I was so glad when he took his first test after I learned about myself and he was OK. I’m going to try to keep it that way.

My bf and I have had that talk. For us we both assume the consequences of our actions and I believe the relationship would stay the same, especially because I’ve been the one insisting on condoms and monitoring my condition
