the lower the cd4 count, the harder it is to fight infections. there is a member on this site who had a cd4 count of 1 when he got diagnosed. once you get on your hiv treatment, your cd4s will rise. also, don't worry a lot if you see your cd4s go down after you start treatment, that is normal. they will go down if you are sick, tired, didn't eat and other factors.
