Does anyone know if being HIV + gives you the right to free prescriptions for all medication (the same as if you are diabetic) in the UK?
Robert, the costs of my HIV medications are covered under the national Ryan White Foundation and my state Medicaid programs. Dallas Texas here has wonderful resources for those of us living with this horrible illness
in Florida it depends on your income, i make very little on medacare so i have medacaid too that clearhealth together pays for all of my perscribed drugs and Humana long time health care pays for what the others dont, my HIV pills cost more than two and a half of my paychecks
As Alex73 said, only ARVs are supplied on the NHS. It may not be the same everywhere, but generally only they are supplied by the HIV clinic, other meds usually have to be prescribed by the GP. It may be worth checking to see if you are entitled to free NHS prescriptions, if not then the prescription prepayment is a good way, worthwhile if you have a few items (works out at Ā£10.40/mth).
yes i remember that now, but in 89 i got on Disability and made $10 bucks too much to apply for any drugs until i got on medacaid when i was about dead,Ryan White paid for other drugs that medicaid didnt cover
Have a specialist I see. Next seeing her beginning of January.
