Gay, MD, MPH, associate professor of infectious diseases, and David Margolis, MD, the Sarah Kenan Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Microbiology & Immunology, and Epidemiology in the UNC School of Medicine, published results of a clinical trial showing that vorinostat and immunotherapy may modestly shrink the latent HIV reservoir.

Back in 1990,..I remember within our own LGBTQ community, we were being ostracized because a lot of us died of AIDS and were infected with HIV and the population feared us. Today that stigma continues after doctors and the CDC say that a person who is undetectable under anti virals can have unprotected sex with another HIV undetectable person and can even have unprotected sex with an HIV negative person and not infect that person.. Supposed cure for HIV.

With different pharmaceutical companies, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna all creating a covid-19 vaccine in the coming months, which one would you decide to take or would you at all? 🤔

Has anyone had the opportunity to speak to their doctor, specialist, etc about taking the Covid-19 vaccine or not taking it? Im usually a little reluctant to take the first round of anything new as it is certainly a trial by fire in some cases. However, I'm not completley against taking the vaccine.

I realize it will probably be a few more months before the opportunity comes to take the vaccine but I will talk to my doctor about it and the potential risks.

HIV+, undetectable

Thinking about this because @A myHIVteam Member just talked about a sore arm from vaccination, and partner & I are headed for vaccination today for flu & covid. How many people have a regular reaction to vaccination? I do every time (sore arm, feeling crappy). My partner, on the other hand, rarely has a reaction. It is a miracle and blessing we have vaccines for Co-vid released just this year. My question as a long termer diagnosed with HIV in 1987, why has it taken, in my case, 34 years for such a vaccine be developed for HIV/AIDS? The Pharmaceutical companies have made billions since manufacturing meds for HIV/AIDS. Why would these companies want to put out a vaccine or cure over making billions of dollars? And why are there not more generics for HIV meds? It all kind of makes one wonder… read more
