I am newly diagnosed but healthy. I work 8 to 12hrs a day.... Sometimes more. I am constantly walking on concrete. I have noticed since starting my HIV meds that I get horrible cramps in my feet and calves. They are so painful that they wake me every night. I take a multi-vitamin and drink Gatorade. Has anyone else had this problem with cramps and if so, what can be done?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Change your shoes during a shift because it helps.
Also on the walking on concrete. I don't know if this is related to cramps? I have foot issues too. I am able to use running shoes for work. I am in sales and walk on concrete daily. I buy black ,plain ,name brand running shoes for work. Not cheap brands. No foot issues anymore! If changing shoes interests you, do your research on food service shoes as well. I have a few pairs I use when I have a corporate visit. They are slip ons and very comfortable for day use.
I use to have cramps too. I never like gatorade, too much salt. But I did my research and drink LOTS of water. I mix my cheap water (down time) with pricy water (active time). Especially hydrating water and juices! Perfect PH balance, electrolytes, minerals etc. are what I look for on the labels. Do your research, compare and find beverages and brands known to hydrate, have low calories, coconut milk, have vitamins, immune system properties, etc.. I really think this helped me a lot! These items are pricy but Im worth every penny!
Bedtime at 1 am jayzus I have not gone to bed that late in over a month and as the norm I have a self imposed bedtime of 9 pm but typically lay there playing slots on my lap top until I collect at least 1000 points then take the 2 nighttime pills that say " take at bedtime " then every so often partake of an otc sleep aid and lay there on my right side with the pillow scrumched up between my arm and head and wait for the sleep timer on the tv to cut it off and usually am asleep before the 120 minutes ( two hours ) is up :)
