Why Do Many People Blame The Other Person For Infecting Them With HIV, When We Are Responsible For Protecting Ourselves From Contacting HIV?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Each person are responsible for our own bodies so to only blame the other person for contacting HIV is ourselves. We made the choice of not using a condom or not take the time to use a condom correctly. Unless you were forced against your will through a drugs placed in our drink without your knowledge, raped, forced with a weapon, held down by other people or knocked on unconscious you are able to make the decision not to have sex with someone.

Some people to this day didn't get it from sex, or being raped. Since 2008 over 25,000 people got hiv from a doctor or dentist who did not practice proper equipment cleaning, and reused that equipment on other people thus infecting them.

I'm in agreement with you. All of us are responsible for our own sexual health.

I got it from my (now late) husband. He had had a vasectomy, so we didn't need protection...boy was I wrong!! I do blame him. He didn't tell me he had it before he took his life. I got VERY ill and it was a year and a half before I got tested and found out I was positive... See why I blame him?

Hard to say since I became infected from being raped. Always practiced safe sex, then bam. Raped and infected.
